Emery Walkers House 7 Hammersmith Terrace

Visit Emery Walker's House

Accessibility
  • Emery Walker's House is a Grade II* listed, tall, terraced house with narrow stairs between the three floors open to the public, as well as steps to the rear garden (46 steps in total). We regret that wheelchair or step free access is not possible.

  • Lighting levels are low throughout the building.

  • Due to the constraints of space, the high density of furniture and precious objects, and to help conserve the fragile collections, the house is unsuitable for young children.

  • For those unable to access the house we offer a virtual tour - just click on the heading marked VIRTUAL TOUR below the logo on the top of this page.

Photography

Unfortunately, for conservation reasons, photography is not allowed inside the house. A selection of postcards, greeting cards, books and gifts can be purchased after the tour.

Temporary Closure of Emery Walker's House

Following recent recommendations from Public Health England concerning the Covid-19 virus, Emery Walker’s House will be closed with immediate effect, until further notice. The health and well-being of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our top priority; it is with this in mind that we have made this difficult decision.

We continue to monitor the situation closely, in line with advice from UK Government and Public Health England, please watch this space for further updates.

We are sorry for any disappointment caused and appreciate your understanding during this difficult period.  While our doors are temporarily closed, our social media channels remain open, please continue to connect with us online!

In the meantime you can also enjoy virtually visiting the House via our online tour and learning about our wonderful collection through our online catalogue.  We look forward to welcoming visitors to the House in the near future.
